I know a lot of people already went gaga over Crazy Katsu and I told myself, I have to know why! Yet, I didn't let my expectation soar high. Yes, people are raving crazy about it but the price is quite cheap compared to famous tonkatsu joints.

One crazy Saturday night, tadah!

crazy katsu review

The interiors of the place was just very simple. Wooden tables and chairs with just this wooden acoustics to adorn the whole place. Just like the look of the place, the menu was simple and straight to the point, too. They offer katsus and other Japanese favorites.

crazy katsu interiors

Their best-seller is Chicken Katsu at Php 155 but I noticed the red peppers so I asked my brother to try it instead. I took a few bites and well, it was different for it was in a bed of cabbages with sour sauce with a little kick of spice.

crazy katsu chicken bf parañaque

I had Tonkatsu at Php 150. At this price, the tonkatsu was large already on a bed of cabbage shreds. Only that, it doesn't offer unli cabbage such as that in Yabu: House ot Katsu or even Tonkatsu by Terazawa

Their Tonkatsu is thicker. But it wasn't that juicy or crispy. The cabbages weren't that fresh too. The mayonnaise they used was just ordinary (I don't know if Kewpie or not, but maybe not). The tonkatsu sauce has a watery consistency, too.

They have Miso Soup at 30 only.

Overall, I didn't go head over heels but I can understand why the rave. It's cheap and a decent meal already. Service is average and they inform customers that orders will be out in how many minutes.

Due to some memories we had of Noriter, we chose a ‘no-return’ policy. Although, a year after we found ourselves in the playground again.

Unique decors
It’s not the food nor the drinks that lured us in Noriter. If only for their food, I personally would call it quits. But there’s a magic in its walls full of vandals. We wanted to leave a mark again.

So before anything else, hellosheena was here:

The food, just like before, took ages to arrive. It didn’t much matter.  We had entertainment.

When it did, I was surprised. I never remembered it this artsy. So we pushed it further.

Carbonara at Php 160. Serving size was just a fistful. It’s not the best carbonara around. It’s meaty and saucy, though.

Strawberry Shake at Php 135 (small). It wasn’t a shock that it was bland. Same as my drinks a few years back. It’s good to know, though, that it has real strawberries.

Food was so-so. Nevertheless, just like before, I enjoyed the ambiance. Perfect for great talks.

Mad yet honest i-screeeeaaaaams!
Mad servings!
Mad lineeeee on a Tuesday night!

Well, seems like people are mad-crazy about Mad Mark’s Creamery and Good Eats. And not surprisingly because they really serve generous servings of good eats at an affordable price. That even on a weeknight, there’s a mad line.

After about an hour of waiting and reading their black board menus, finally feasted on Johnnie Double Black Ribs at Php 305 with sides of smashed potato and bacon potato salad.

First of all, the serving was big. Maybe it was called “double” because of the two ribs in black sauce. The sauce has a sweet and more on the sour taste. But what I like best was the smashed potato! The bacon potato salad was alright but since it’s a salad, it’s cold.

Just a friendly advice though: don’t try two potatoes at once. They also have rice and corn & carrots.

Whoah!
Mad Mark’s is also famous for their Honest Ice Creams made from scratch every day. They only serve a number of flavors because it won’t last long. Of course, have to see how an honest ice cream tastes like. At Php 165 for double scoops, tried the ff flavors:

mad mark's honest ice cream
Honestly good
  •  Chocolate on Chocolate- surprisingly unsweet. Bet it’s made from a mild dark chocolate
  •  Motherlade- my favorite from the loot; it has a vanilla base with nuts I don’t know what to call. I only know that it’s yummy!
  •  Banoreo- vanilla ice cream based also, this is a better version of cookies and cream.
  •  Walnut Cinnamon- great for cinnamon lovers! Plus with walnut, perfect!
Here’s their sweet-o-meter for guide:

For its good price, cozy interiors and friendly staff (not to mean the cooking time, though), hands-up!

#FASTGOOD!

True! Fast-food price twice the goodness! Saw this accidentally after jogging along Ayala. Thought that Bon Chon’s the cheapest chow around but wait, Chef Lau’s here to save the night.

As a first timer, ordered Pugon Roast Chicken at Php 114 with drinks included. Serving size’s not a heaping and when you look at it, it seems ordinary. Except looking closer, there were sauce drippings and a few spices on top of the chicken. And it smells good.

Looks ordinary until...
Thanks to lemongrass. Bet they marinated it overnight. Even the chicken meat’s good. Not unlike in Bon Chon where only the skin’s blessed.

I’m excited other dishes here. I know it won’t take long as I only need a few bucks.

Bagnet is an Ilokano version of Lechon Kawali: deep fried pork belly goodness.

But my goodness! Even if 8065 Bagnet is just a few blocks from my office, that I can have it for lunch whenever, I've only been there once every year.

Right. Because too much of goodness can be bad cholesterol.

Who would've thought that this hole-in-the-wall along Estrella, a house really, with eccentric paintings on its walls, inside and out, serves bagnet expertly.

Paintings on the wall
At Php 120, they offer several viands with bagnet as its star.

Their bagnet itself is perfect. Never was a time it was sloppy (only the service most of the time). Always, it's too crispy I think my neck would crack first (or burst, as in putok batok haha).

What's more, for someone like me who can't face bagnet squarely, there's bagnet with Kare-kare, Sinigang, curry, sisig, pakbet and etc.

Complete pricelist
During my last encounter in 8065 Bagnet, tried their Kare-kare Bagnet. When I looked at it, I thought I got it wrong because the sauce looks like gravy. The color and consistency, yes but the taste was rich. It's like Kare-kare gravy. The veggies, though, can just be counted. I would've preferred more to somehow offset the sinfulness.

Looks like gravy the Kare-kare
Overall, for the price and food quality it's a worthy meal.

Down South, there's a homey restaurant really worth trying. I mean, there are so many things to try right inside the comfort of the South. But this one, just inside BF Resort Village, is once again making abuzz: the brand new old Skillets and Grill. They serve Filipino comfort foods with a twist!

Let me start with rice, my guess of the restaurant's name: rice served in a skillet. That's a total of six (6) cups of rice, by the way.

skillet and grill food review
Rice straight from the skillet! How can that be!
Its menu, according to its chef-owner Ed, was from years before and used it again when they 'reopened'. Thus the picture below. He said they haven't changed even the price. Whoa!

The old menu used in the new
For starters, their Onion Rings (Php 108), good for sharing, tastes just crispy right. It's served with everyone's favorite, ketchup-mayo sauce. I enjoyed eating this crunchy circles!

The favorite pica food
Their Boneless Chicken's (Php 208) a good try, too. Two 1/4 chicken served in their yummy white sauce. Even after the chicken's gone, it's still enjoyable 'licking' off the remnants. If they have bread, I could have sworn to wipe it off with that, too.

skillet and grill boneless chicken
The first time I ate here, serving of chicken was three. Two's good, alright.
Then comes their Squid Alajillo (Php 168) recommended by their in-house chef. I don't particularly enjoy squid if it's not calamari. So I rely on my family's approval of these squishy squid. It's good, they say.

Want squid at less than Php 200?
When I'm with family too, always there should be Pork Sisig with Egg (Php 158). Who wouldn't love sinful sisig, right? I love it, too. Albeit, I find much tasty those served in food courts.

Lastly, Beef Salpicao (Php 199) served with native vinegar. I didn't pay too much attention with the beef itself but coupled with vinegar, it's a surprisingly good combination.

Served right with a native vinegar.
Every Sunday and even on weeknights, when I go home, I see so many families and friends feasting here. And it's good to see that Skillet and Grill's once again up and about. Kudos!

Sorry for taking that line from a famous fast-food chain. It's really how I'd describe this new and quite little restaurant just after the gate of BF Resort Village.

From outside, it looks like another milkshake mushroom, but the name should never disappoint! It's a kitchen so there must be some foods there!

And there are from pizzas, pasta, burgers n' wraps, rice meals, sides n' salads, desserts n' coolers.

I tried Graciano's Kitchen's Hawaiian Beef Burger in a Budget Saver meal, meaning it's served with fries and iced tea (Php 109).

graciano's kitchen food review BF las pinas
It's served with a big bun with a satisfying grilled patty, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, onions with a slice of pineapple.

Surprisingly, the patty is savory and I get to taste hints of barbecue sauce. Love it!

Their fries are in wedges too served with a mayo dip.

My humongous eater siblings, afraid to starve, tried Buster Burger Budget Saver meal (Php 139).

graciano's kitchen buster burger

I don't have a close-up view of this topper burger but here's its anatomy: grilled beef patty PLUS crunchy chicken fillet AND bacon strips with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and onions.

Perfect for my sibbies with big appetite.

My sister even said that she could have ordered rice with it. :)

Tried also their Tacos Solo (Php 49):

graciano's kitchen tacos solo

But the serving is just small and the tacos, or should I daresay corn chips, is not that good. It's really better to just concentrate on their pizzas and burger menu. I'll try their pizzas on my next! Heard that they serve it yummy here.

Their service is not that fast too. But I believe it's worth the wait. Plus the staff are friendly too.

Well Kaya Korean Restaurant on our Korean Part 1 is quite a bit an expensive K-raving. If K-raving is unstoppable yet the budget is, why not try Kim n' Chi in Glorietta 4?

I always order their set meals, and for just Php 119, solb!

This is their Beef Stew Set Meal:

Aside from the tender and sweet beef stew, it has Chapchae with bean sprouts, skewered crabsticks with meatloaf strips in between leeks, and something like a tamago sushi with crabstick in the middle plus dilis. Their Chapchae of course cannot compete with Kaya's but it's tasty enough for me. What I like among the side dishes is the skewered goodies and the tamago (sound like Japanese, though). And oh, their beef stew is not that far from Kaya's.

I've also tried their Vienna Sausage Set Meal, one sweet meal.
