Nagi is a town in Okayma, Japan. Although on their flags, it says Ramen Nagi | Universal Noodle. Could this be the translation I’m looking for?

Maybe the queue was just long. :) Anyway, Ramen Nagi’s interior is bright and loud with the flurry of people and red flags hung all over. I haven’t been to Japan but it feels like eating along its busy streets. And just like how they do it in the land of the ramen, guests are greeted happily in Japanese.

Four kings rule Ramen Nagi’s kingdom:
  • Butao (tonkotsu)
  • Red (spicy)
  • Green (pesto and cheese)
  • Black (squid ink)
I decided for the basic: Butao Ramen starting at Php 390. But they’ll hand omotenashi sheet first and red crayon. It can be customized.

Check first!
I didn't choose the easy way out by checking Chef’s Recommendation.

For the soup base, I want it really rich. Special sauce normal so with garlic. For the toppings starting with pork, I chose belly while for the vegetable, cabbage (though I wish I checked onions, instead). I don’t like spicy so checked none. For the noodles, as per the suggestion in Ikkoryu Fukuoka, went for hard.

Though I enjoyed the ajitama in Ikkoryu Fukuoka, I didn’t add any extras, even tamago.

The broth in Ramen Nagi is the richest and creamiest I’ve had (well I asked for it). The chashu’s thicker and has a mild sweetness. The noodle was really hard, some were even sticking together. It’s a bit expensive than Ikkoryu Fukuoka but it has a relatively bigger bowl. Though lesser toppings.

In terms of taste, there’s just a very slight difference between Ikkoryu Fukuoka and Ramen Nagi. So choosing between, it has to be, again, Kichitora’s Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se. ;)

It's so sulit!

Imagine, at an affordable price, I got to have humongous chicken even good enough for two.

I'm glad that the No. 1 fried chicken in Taiwan is now in our shores. But unlike there where it's in stall-type, here in the Philippines because we love to converse, it's in a restaurant-type. Hot inside but great, anyway.

One chilly July night, my friends and I tried to see what's hot in Hot-Star. For starters, I got to munch on Chicken Skin (Php 45). At this price, there's three sticks of two skins to share. What I love about this one is its flavor. It's a chicken skin with added barbecue flavor.

Fighting the urge to munch it all down, I managed to get a nearly extinct chicken skin.

Then since I felt that I got to have a lingering taste of their BBQ Large Fried Chicken, I tried their Original Large Fried Chicken (Php 110) for my main course and added Php 35 to make it a meal with rice and regular drink.

It did not disappoint. It was clearly large enough. Thanks to how it was cut, I enjoyed eating several parts of chicken at one meal. Surprisingly, the meat inside was flavorful too. I was kind of expecting to get all breading, but no.

All my rice and drink gone, still the chicken remains.

Now we have more choice for fast-foods offering our all-time favorite chicken. Aside from large fried chicken, they also serve spaghetti, large crispy fish, chicken pop-corn and sandwiches in chicken and fish too.

They also have sides such as mushroom soup, french fries, mashed potato, crunchy fruit salad and yes, chicken skin.

Republiq is definitely a place to go for awesome party. But more than fine music, they also have good food to be merry about.

Their menu is brimming with choices, choices, choices. And generally, what came to my plate are delectable!

Hard to choose? But hardly will you ever go wrong.

Appetizers & Munchies: Spinach-Roast Garlic Puffs and Spiced Basil Marinara (Php 175)

This one is my favorite. Biting the crisp crust will bring out an oozing delight. Even without the spiced basil marinara, it's perfect! Thus, I tag this as 'must-try'!

Appetizers & Munchies: Baked Whole Baby Brie in Garlic Thyme Olive Oil and Crostinis (Php 350)

Brie, in itself, is already heaven. When you're served with this cute baby, you'll look for it again. Of course, the crunchy crostinis pair it very well.

Appetizers & Munchies: Gambas and Mushroom Ajillo (Php 350), Chorizo Bilbao Frito (Php 360) and US Beef Salpicao (Php 325) served with Crostinis.

My officemate, of whom these pictures are credited, likes the US Salpicao very much. The gambas are quite spicy although the taste didn't quite much register. As for the chorizo, it's my least favorite although I'm a fan of it when my mom cooks Valenciana. Maybe I found it quite rubbery at that time.

Dips and Crisps: Spinach and Parmesan Cheese Gratin (Php 200) and Spicy Jalapeno Popper Dip (195)

As I don't like spicy, I found a certain love for the spinach and parmesan cheese gratin! I could eat it in itself! A must-try too, for cheese lovers most especially.

Quesadilla love: Beef Short Ribs 'Kalbi' Fresh Cilantro Kimchee and Cheese Mix (Php 250) with Roast Chicken, Fresh Cilantro, Fire Roasted Tomato Salsa and Cheese (Php 250)

I prefer the beef short ribs than the roast chicken quesadilla. I find it tastier. Don't forget to munch it will hot.

Thin and Crispy Pizzettas: Mushrooms, Smoked Bacon, Roasted Onions & Truffle Cheese (Php 320) and two other flavors of almost the same price.

cafe republiq pizzas

Pizzas are my favorite! But maybe Cafe Republiq isn't the best place for it. For pizza party, Uno Pizzeria is still the best for me.

Sushi Rolls: Electric Eel Roll (Php 390), Salmon Dynamite Roll (Php 330) and Kalifornia Roll (Php 330)

It might be a bit expensive than the others but Electric Eel roll is a discovery! It's crunchy what with the combination of tempura shrimp, unagi, crab salad, and tempura bits! The others are well fine and tasty too. It's quite a hearty snack already.

So next time you happen to visit Republiq, don't just dance and drink, EAT!
